1. Diagnostic Discogram
What it Treats
A diagnostic discogram is used to identify whether a specific spinal disc is the source of a patient’s back or neck pain. It is typically performed when other imaging studies have not clearly identified the cause of pain.
How the Procedure Is Performed
The procedure is performed using X-ray guidance to place a needle into one or more intervertebral discs. Contrast dye is injected into the disc to assess its structure and to determine whether the injection reproduces the patient’s typical pain, helping confirm the disc as the pain source.
