What it Treats
A facet joint injection is used to relieve pain that originates from the facet joints of the spine. This pain is often caused by arthritis, injury, or degenerative changes in the joints and can affect the neck, mid-back, or lower back.
How the Procedure Is Performed
The procedure is performed using X-ray or fluoroscopic guidance to accurately place a small needle into the affected facet joint. A mixture of steroid medication and local anesthetic is injected to reduce inflammation and provide pain relief
